Kenmore 54351 ...relay clicks...and that's it

when I turn on my dehumidifier I hear a relay click but no fan or compressor. I can't find a service manual for that model. Do I have to replace the power board? And no...the fuse is fine.

What's the first 3 numbers? Like "110-xxxxxx"?

Also....

even if the fan is shot, shouldn't the compressor be kicking on at least?

Yes the fan should at least kick in as well. I will look for the info tonight when I get home from work.

Constant air flow, Aprilair 1720 dehumidifier

I want to achieve constant air flow to create positive air pressure inside the house relative to the outside. I used to have an Ultra-Air whole house dehumidifier that connected to the HVAC ductwork. It had separate controls for the fan and dehumidifier so I could set the fan to run constantly, thus creating the positive air pressure. It died and I replaced it with an Aprilair 1720 dehumidifier. Was led to believe I could do the same but it does not have the separate fan controls that the Ultra-Air had. It does have installer settings for the cycle period and cycle time. My question is, would it be possible to set the cycle period and cycle time such that the fan would run constantly or near constantly? And would this damage the system? Thanks.Read More

Dehumdifier question

We just got douced this past weekend with torrential rains and I now have a wet basement. Our old dehumdifier registered that it was 75% humidity down there but refused to pull any water. So off we go to buy a new one. We bought a Whirlpool which is pulling water out just awesome. My question - - - - why is this new unit turning black? It started with a black film on the outside shortly after starting it running. And now the hopper (bucket, whatever you call it) is turning more and more black with each fill. I just put a touch of bleach in the bottom but am concerned as to the cause. Why would a new machine that hasn't been running for but 24 hours already show what I believe could be signs of mold?
