HE220 intallation on a TempStar furnace

I've read all the posts that pertained to the HE220 humidifier. I have a few questions that I think I should ask before I install the humidifier.

1. - If I am understanding things correctly, as long as my furnace has a 24V control board I should not have to install the sail switch?

2. - I did check and my furnace has a 24V honeywell control board. How would I go about hooking the humidifier into the control board so the humidifier runs when the furnace runs? My board is not well labled and I don't know for sure what is what.

3. - Does it matter if I tap into the main water line or should I tap into one of the smaller 1/4in line?

Thank you in advance,
Bob

Right, if it has some place to attched the humidifier to.

Look for something say like HUM, HMD, or EAC. What's the model #? Will see if I can find something.

Should go to your main, and put the valve on that.. Hot water?

I took a couple pictures. Is there any way to attach them?

I located the HUM and EAC slots on the board.
The model of TempStar I believe is
model: FBF075B12G1
MFG: NTG3075FBG1
model: NTG3075FBG1

I should probably mention that the central air connects to the furnace as well. I am not sure if that makes any difference for connecting the humidifier.

I know not to cut my humidifier into the AC coil. I think I've got the mounting of the unit it's self figured out.

I'll tap into the Hot water, because from what I've read that seems like the better way to go.
Tapping into the 1 inch main line won't be too much preasure?

I am not sure I am understanding the wiring diagram correctly.

I'm probably just over thinking the whole project, but is there anything else that I am missing?

Upload to a host site like. www.imageshack.us then copy the address under "Direct link to image" then when you reply on the board, there will be tool bars above the box, click on "Insert image" then paste the the address from image shack.

No, are you going to "T" on to it or saddle?

I am not sure I am understanding the wiring diagram correctly.
I'll help out... Do you want the humidifier to run any time the blower is running, or only when call for heat?

Did you get a transformer with your humidifier? We are going to need it for your furnace.

I'm having trouble uploading the pictures right now. A I'll have to clear some space from my web page. I'll post them soon, if it is needed. I am 99% sure I found the right places to hook the wires up. HUM and EAC tabs are clearly labled.

I will probably tap into the water line with the vampire clamp included in the installation kit (saddle clamp). Mostly because I have never done any sodering before.

Hmm, Transformer? I got the installation kit, I don't know if that contains the transformer you are refering too.

My HE220 came with the transformer itself, I did not get the kit since I knew I didn't need the sail switch on mine, so I brought the other stuff by itself (Drain, copper line, T fitting, t-stat wire, and ductwork)

You only need to wire to one of the two, EAC or HUM.

So does it matter if I wire to the HUM or the EAC? Niether has any wires attached to it now. There are also 2 N slots on the board in the same area. I am thinking those would be Neutral? Do I need to use those as well?

I believe the transformer was in the box with the humidifier, but I will have to verify that. There are a couple of smaller packages included in the box.

Yes, we need to use N "Common".

so it either EAC and N

or

HUM and N.

I'd suggest the HUM.

let me know what you got with the humidifer itself.

Another question
If I was to switch from the supplied hose to a coper tube, would that be just a 1/4in copper tube with a compresion fitting that could be secured just like the hose at both ends? Or would I have to use a Tee that would require sodering? I would have no problem with using a tee other than I don't trust myself with the sodering end of the deal.

I'll check the trasnformer and post that as soon as I get home tonight. I am about 90% positive I have one.

OK here you go.

Black wire from Transformer to HUM, White wire to N.

Thanks Jay,

Would it be better to use a copper line with compression fittings rather than the hose provided with the installation kit?

Yes, the copper will hold up much better in the long run.

Glad to hear, and thanks for the update!

Comes spring, don't forget to shut the water off, remove the pad, clean the area/drain, replace the pad to be ready for next winter.
