Honeywell Humidifier Solenoid

My Honeywell 260a has not been working so I discovered that water was entering the solenoid, but not exiting the opposite side into the black tubing that leads to the tray. I took the unit apart and found it difficult to blow air through the unit. Everything appears to be clean and air does get through, but water doesn't even leak slowly out of the other end. Does that mean the solenoid is bad, or not getting power? Also, why are they so expensive? $60 +/- is alot of dough for such a little part.

Have you checked that you have power going to the valve?

Do you hear it click when there's call for humidity?

I do not hear the solenoid itself click, but the thermostat clicks when I turn it past a certain humidity level. I have a voltmeter, how can I check for power to the solenoid? The two wires go inside the unit itself, no screws or binding posts....thanks Jay....

Take a meter and read on the two black wires that comes off of the valve itself, poke the probe inside of the wire nut. You should be reading 24 volts.

If you do read 24 volts, then you do have power to it, and the valve is burnt out. If you don't read 24 volts, then take a reading at the humidistat.

Make sure the furnace is running, and humidistat is set high.
