Aprilaire 600A runs when furnace is off
I just installed an Aprilaire 600A. It works in test mode when the furnace is on but when the furnace is on it doesn't run in normal modes regardless of the setting. When the furnace is off it runs according to the humidity level set on the humidistat. It does this in both manual and automatic modes. If I turn just the furnace fan on the humidifier stops running. As soon as I turn the fan off the humidifier starts running. I wiried it according to the instructions for a heat pump. (I have a Ruud UBHC-21J14SFC.) Humidistat terminal H (2 wires) is wired to humidifier. Humidistat Cf and C I have wired to common on furnace transformer which is also the common wire used by the thermistat. Humidistat W/G I have wired to G (fan) on furnace. Humidistat R I have wired to what I believe to be the power from the other wire on the furnace supplied transformer power wire (hot?). Is this a wiring issue? My furnce doesn't have a 24vac terminal panel. I basicly traced the wires from the thermistat and matched to the wiring diagram on the furnace unit. Is there an alternate way to wire. I would like the humidifier to run when ever the fan is on. I have it set up on the supply side and running off of hot water because it is on a heat pump. Thanks for any help provided.

I'm an idiot. I had the common and 24vac wires switched. All seems to be working fine now. On a different note I would like to wire my humidifier to my thermostat. I have a ritetemp 8085C. It has humidifier capacity, but the instructions are not very good. Any suggestions?

You could use the t-stat as long you are using all the power from the furnace itself, not another transformer.
The draw back is going to that, you are going to lose the outdoor sensor control. Only getting a reading in the hall way where the -tstat is at, not in the return to get a whole house avg.
