Aprilaire wiring dillema
Hi, I would like to know if it's OK that my humidifier is turned on by my 24v burner voltage instead of the blower voltage as the trigger. My furnace is an older York and I could not find 24volts when the blower turned on. It works fine this way I just want to make sure that I'm not making a serious mistake that I'm unaware of.
Thanks!!
Thanks!!

The blower comes on about 10 seconds after the burner does? What is the problem with doing it one way and not another. I know the way it "Should be" but still don't understand what makes the other way wrong. Please give me specific facts and reasons. I need to understand the logic of it all and don't see a difference at this point. If anything I think this has advantages over using the blower as the trigger.
Thanks!!

YOu could take the 24volts off the the W's wire. But, lot of time these older furnace's transformer is not big enough to support the extra load.
What happens? The Transformer may burn out, or the valve will clatter, or gas valve won't open..

I've checked everything with a voltmeter and the Aprilaire gets it's voltage from it's own 24volt transformer, the 24volt from the furnace is only a trigger not the voltage for the system. I got a reply from Aprilaire tech support and they say it can be triggered to turn on with either burner signal or blower signal.
Thanks!

Im back to why you dont want to put a A50 on there .So it comes on with the blower on. Ckeck the lay out figure I in the installation paper you got with it. You pick up a R and C from the furnace to the humidifier control then the A50 from the HH on it

Because it works this way and Aprilaire says it is fine this way. If someone could respond to this earlier post it would be appreciated if not thanks anyway.
