Reverse Aprilaire bypass duct to right side -- do I need to shorten feed tube?

I'm installing an Aprilaire 500A, and I need the bypass duct to attach to the right side of the unit (it comes assembled with the duct on the left). I followed the instructions for reversing the bypass outlet to the right side, but the feed tube that supplies the water panel (a fairly stiff grey plastic tube) won't attach to the water panel without doing a bend that seems tighter than it wants to go. I'm afraid of cracking the tube by bending it too tight. Seems to me it would work better with a shorter feed tube. Am I missing something or should I make the tube shorter? Thanks!

I have not been around these newer model, so I am not sure what's going on.

I'll have to do some reading in the morning since my day is full.

Haven't completed the installation yet, but looking at it more I think maybe the tube is more flexible than I initially gave it credit for. Still welcome any guidance though.

I looked at the manual, and didn't really say much, but from looking at the photo, you should have enough play in the hose.
