humidifier - water runs non-stop
Hi there,
I have a furnace Carrier WeatherMaker 9200 and a humidifier Generalaire 1042-L. The issue seems to be with the water running non-stop through the humidifier, regardless if the furnace is running or not, until the humidity level was reached (water flow stops if i rotate the dial on humidifier control knob).
I checked the 24 V powering for the humidifier and it is ON all the time so this appears to be a powering issue. The humidifier is powered through a power adapter located inside the furnace and doesn't appear to be connected at all with the furnace status (running or not).
Is there a way to power the humidifier ONLY when the furnace is running?

Jay11J,
Thank you for your time to reply to my message!
There isn't anything between the power adapter and the humidistat. One wire goes directly to the humidistat, the other one goes to the solenoid (humidifier)and after that it connects to the humidistat.
here are some details about my furnace:
product: 58MXA080---13112
model: 58MXA08-12
series: 131
Please let me know if you require any additional information.

Ok, just undo the wires off the plug in transformer.
Hook up white wire to 24v COM.
Hook up red wire to HUM 24v.
With this the the humidifier will only come on call of heat.

they used a black-white wires, the white one goes directly into humidistat, the black one goes through solenoid.
just a curiosity: if both wires are hooked to 24V, how would this work?
