Aprilaire 600

I have an Aprilaire 600 working in manual mode. It is powered by a transformer connected to the blower of a Rheem Quiet 80 Gas Furnace. The humidifier operates in test mode, but it does not operate during normal furnace operation (regardless of the manual setting). I removed the Manual Mode Resistor and checked the resistance across the terminals and I only get 28,000 Ohms while the troubleshooting guide states it should be between 44,000 and 48,000. Is that enough to assume this resistor is bad? Is there any way to jump the connection to confirm the bad resistor?

Thank you

If you are getting that reading, then it may be throwing it off. You can go to Radio Shack and pick up a resitor for that value.

Otherwise, I've never had to service this control before. Do you have the outdoor sensor still?

No, I have never had the outside sensor. The unit was installed this way when I bought the house. Is there anything else that I should check?

That's the only thing I cam think off hand.. Honestly, never service these controls in person, so the replacement of the "Manual" wire is what i'd suggest to do.
