Hi, I already have a Humidifier - already installed when we purchased this home - but it is not strong enought as we noticed at our first winter - last year. We are looking at a more efficient unit and wanted to make sure the new purchase would do the trick. Inititialy, I would like suggestions on how to calculate my home Square Footage: I have a 2 storey detached home; my 1st and 2nd floor are finished and should be calculated in the SQF but my basement is NOT finished and I have blocked the 3 ductwork outlets with a rag at the end in order to get more air flow on the 1st and 2nd floor as it not needed as much in the basement. Also, the door going to the basement is always closed. Inititaly I thought of NOT including the basement's SQF but now that I'm thinking about it, perhaps I SHOULD as my house is an "Average" type, I'm assuming the air travels every anyways? I have 1001 SQF on each floor: - 1001 SQF - 1st Floor - 1001 SQF - 2nd Floor - 1001 SQF - Basement Should I then buy my new Flow-thru Humidifier based on 2002 SQF or 3003 SQF i.e. including the basement as well ? I do have a chart on How many Gallons Per Day (GPD) the Humidifier should deliver based on the SQF, this being for an "Average" type home: GPD AVG-Home 14 2121 SQF 16 2424 SQF 18 2727 SQF 20 3030 SQF The most efficient one I have found on-line for "Average" type home is for 2879 SQF therefore delivering 19 GPD, so of I have to include all of my 3 floors for the SQF calculation, this one found at 19 GPD won't be enought. The case be, could someone please send me links of Flow-thru Humidifiers that deliver a little more than 20 GPD - just to be on the safe side...... Your feedback would be greatly appreciated! I would greatly appreciate any assistance with my project. Aprilaire 600A, Lennox G51, model 60 humidistat How do you wire these for a heat only use of the humidifier using the dedicated 24v "HUM" terminal? Thanks for any assistance you can offer, Jim
