Aprilaire 400 wired into Thermo Pride OH6 multi-stage furnace

I got my Aprilaire 400 and am looking to wire into a Thermo Pride OH6 2 stage furnace. The furnace schematic shows the humidifier transformer hooked to the fan terminal for 120V as there is no hum terminal. However the booklet also states that the fan terminal is the fan on signal. Will this work for the humidifier transformer? How does one post pictures?

I am looking at the OH6 schematic that is online, and I am not seeing the transformer that you are talking about?

You can upload a photo on a host site, and then post the link to it on here.

OH6 Schematic

Hi Jay

This is the link to the OH6 Schematic online:

http://www.thermopride.com/pdf/Mo-4373.pdf

If you look on page 73 bottom right you'll see the connection for a humidifier above the words 'cooling speed set-ups'. It shows one side of a transformer connecting to the fan terminal which supplies 120V (you'll have to zoom in to see it clearly). I'm assuming this is how the transformer supplied with the Aprilaire 400 would be connected to the furnace board to power the humidifier. On page 24 bottom paragraph Electronic Air Cleaner and Humidifier Installation. This says the EAC connector is the one to use however there is a duct fan connected to this terminal. On page 35 you'll see a list of the male quick connect terminals which lists the fan terminal as the fan on signal.

Thanks for your help

Since the transformer is very low amp draw, you could piggy back it on the EAC.

After speaking with both Aprilaire and Thermo Pride I've decided to connect the transformer to a constant power source. Thermo Pride said to connect to the Fan connector but Apilraire says the tran needs a constant power supply. Anyway even with a constant power supply the humidifier will only run when the furnace runs if the Blower Activation switch on the humidifier is set to off. This setting is best for a cold water hook up. The humidity in the house is only a problem on very cold days and nights which in the current weather trend for the Hudson Valley makes the need for the humidifier only about four months out of the year. Still I'd rather have a whole house humidifier than a room model. BTW Aprilaire says if the humidifier isn't installed by a 'professional' it won't have a warranty! The company that serviced my furnace was supposed to be professional but they put a nozzle in the burner that was way too big so I'll take my chances.

Thanks for the help Jay!

Are planning on using the transformer to the R and C on the humidistat or H?

Transformer

Have hooked the transformer to a constant power source and wiring it to the H connection in the humidistat.

Thanks Jay
