Question Need help getting my Aprilaire Humidifer running.

First, I don't think anything on the humidifier is broken. Four years ago, we paid quite a bit of money to have the capacitor (think that was the word) replaced. Long story short, due to other circumstances, we found our house too moist. My husband remembers doing something to disable the humidifier. He thinks perhaps he unhooked some wires, but he is unsure and now four years later, with a long cold spell we need to have it work. Unfortunately, he can't remember what he did to disable it, but thinks he may have unhooked wires. I've posted photos (see link below) that show the humidifier and the wiring. Starting with 1n, at the humidifier, I follow the visible wiring around to the control (7n). The water is turned on, but there is no water in the reservoir.

There are two places were I see unattached (orphan) wires, but the original wiring was not done well, so I have no idea what, if anything, to do with them.

Any ideas?

Thanks for sharing the photos, but I'm having a hard time making out the wires.

Do you know if the transformer is always on, or comes on with the fan?

Thanks, Jay.

No, I don't know when the transformer turns on. I do know that we disabled the unit because we couldn't figure out how to get it to turn off and it was putting too much moisture in the house. (Just wish I knew how it was disabled.)

The wiring IS a mess isn't it?

If you have a meter, test for voltage on the transformer.

If the transformer powers up and down then it's wired up like this..
