Hooking Nest to Humidifier

I am trying to do the same with an Aprilaire 445 Humidifier and a simple forced air gas furnace. The humidifier is currently plugged in to a 120V AC outlet that turns on with the furnace. The two 24v wires go to a humistat mounted in the return duct.

I'd like to eliminate the hunistat and have The Nest control it.

My research so far has led me to the second method employing a relay. Is that correct for my setup?

Thanks.

You are going to need a relay between the Nest and humidifier two wire.

Thanks,

Put a DPDT Coil relay in and it works perfectly. I have the Nest set to Hum+Heat and Fan-don't activate. I've got to monitor for awhile in order to get the Humidity level set correctly.
