General humidifier wiring

I have a carrier humidifier on my furnace. It would not start up this year, solenoid was replaced. i want to double check wiring. The power from the furnace is connected to one wire of the solenoid. The other solenoid wire is connected to power wire of the humidistat. The ground from humidistat is connected to ground from power source. This seems to say that when the humidistat senses that it needs humidity, the circuit is broken causing the solenoid to open. Does that sound right.
