Aprilaire 760 questions

I have an Aprilaire 760 hooked up in my house. It has been unplugged since a new furnace was installed a few years back. I just cleaned everything out, put in a new filter and drain pipe. On the wiring front it has a manual humidistat.

It appears that the two wires on the humidistat run directly to the humidifier. As a result, when I turn the humidistat past the click point it runs continuously regardless of whether the HVAC system is running. This makes sense, as how would it know?

My comfortmaker furnace has a terminal labeled 24V HUM. Can I wire the humidifier in line with the furnace so it only runs when the furnace is running? Thanks.

Hello neighbor.... a few towns away.

Your humidifier has it's own 24v internal transformer. You can't connect it directly to the furnace.

The following are the required connections. You'll need a 24vac relay. The board IS NOT your furnace but the connections are the same.... 24v HUM and Common.

Thanks, I'll head to the Home Depot today to see if they have any. If not, Amazon.

P.S. Any advice on how to set the water flow. I don't see much discussion on this online and I don't want to waste water. Thanks.
