Humidifier help

I have a 12-year-old Honeywell whole-house humidifier. Tried it out for the first time of the season last week. It kept cycling water and would not turn off, even when the furnace was off. I shut the water supply and I could still hear it. In fact, even when I turned the humidifier dial to Off, it wouldn't stop. I had to disconnect the wires to cut the power to the valve. Thoughts?

Welcome to the forums.

My first thought is what is the model number of the unit ?
Is this a steam unit ?
