Aprilaire 560 to Nest - - - Three Zone System EWC NCM-300

Humidifier: Aprilaire 560
Furnace: Bryant Plus 90i Gas
Thermostat: Nest 3rd Gen
Zone Panel: NCM-300

Hello Everyone,

I'm wondering what I'll need to do to get my humidifier hooked up to use with my Nest. I've read different places that I may or may not need a relay so I thought I'd post my setup and see what anyone thinks as I am pretty new to this. My humidistat had 2 wires when I removed it which brought me to trying to figure this out.

Thanks for the help.

Welcome to the forums.

You could use a relay but I'm pretty sure that zone controller is 40va which should be able to handle the load of the humidifier.

Do you have an extra wire to the thermostat ?
You will need to connect one yellow wire from the solenoid to C on the zone control board.
The other yellow wire goes to the * terminal on the nest.

Thanks for the fast response! I'm not entirely sure where the yellow wires run to from the solenoid? At the Nest I have the red and white from the prior humidistat as well as an unused blue wire.

Then you will be playing sleuth this weekend locating the wiring.

If you can't find where it's connected..... disconnect it and cap it off and run new.

Ok, one of the yellow wires runs to the furnace with the white going to C and the red to HUM. The other runs to the transformer on the wall. Are you saying I should run the one to the zone control board instead of the furnace?

What wire would I use in the * spot up at the Nest on the main floor? White or Red?

Thanks for the help.

The humidifier needs a C connection that is the same as the thermostat. If there is a wire from C on the zone board to C on the furnace..... then your C to the humidifier is good.

The other yellow wire needs to get to the * nest terminal with nothing in between.
The color makes no difference.

You no longer need the transformer or the HUM connection.

Ok, I think I get it now.

So I can just basically run a wire from one yellow wire to C on the zone board and run another wire from the second yellow wire to the spare blue wire I have for that zone, then i could just use the spare blue at the nest in the * spot.

Does this sound correct?

That sounds like it should do it.
