Skuttle 60-1 Humidifier Mounting

I recently discovered that my Skuttle 60-1 steam humidifier was not properly mounted in my forced hot air outlet duct. It is screwed to the front side of the vertical duct and positioned inside the duct instead of on the outside with a transition hood as recommended by Skuttle. I am concerned that it may block some air flow. The proper installation is option B as described on p. 9 in the Skuttle owners manual. I have seen a "mounting bracket" for this unit online, but cannot find the metal transition hood. Can I purchase the transition hood or must I fabricate it?

I've never seen one available. You can have it made at a duct work fabricator.

I contacted Skuttle and they informed me that outside mounting is not necessary on furnace installations with larger ducts. Newer installations are apparently built with much smaller ducts and the Skuttle would in that case block some air flow. My system is vintage 2000 and uses larger ducts so I don't have a mounting issue and I consider this thread closed.
