How to verify dehumidifier refrigerant leak?

I suspect a crawlspace dehumidifier has leaked refrigerant because it doesn't seem to lower the humidity much. But I still hear the compressor running and the fan blowing.

Is there an easy and more definite way to confirm my suspicion?
If I turn it on and the output air is not warm, is that a good indication of refrigerant leak?

it's harder to reach the cooling coil for testing -- I would have to open the unit.

The cooling coil is the first one....... right behind the filter. It should be easy to get to it. If it's not cool.... the refrigerant is gone.
