How far can I run 18g thermostat wire for a temperature sensor? Aprilaire 600

Hi folks, I have an Aprilaire 600 I'd like to set to automatic mode from the manual mode its already in. As far as I can tell, 18/2 wire is the correct choice. However, due to the layout of the house/exterior, I'll either need to run it 30-40 feet to mount it outside, or I can do a short run that will be under an uninsulated porch, but not secured (no access, can fish it close enough). Do either of those sound preferable? Does resistance become an issue at that distance? This is the sensor:

Thanks!

Welcome to the forums.

I don't remember encountering a stated maximum length but I've used them up to 100' on 18-2 cable.
