Humidifier doesn’t raise humidity in 1 room

I have a room humidifier in my bedroom and I can run it day and night but humidity level never gets over 34. I can hold the gauge in front of mist and it goes up or I can walk in the living room and it goes up to 56 but that room has a fireplace and no humidifier! The gauge sits between the bathroom and the humidifier where you would expect it to be more humidity. Why doesn’t it go up? I really need it to work to help my breathing problem. Thank you!

What's the source of heat in the house? Lots of airflow in a home can make raising humidity in one spot tough.

A room humidifier is not going to evenly humidify an entire house, it just does not have the capacity. Whole house system would be much better but as noted it depends on your heating system!

More air leakage in from outside will also reduce humidity level.

Humidifier not raising humidity

I have a heat pump. The humidifier is a room humidifier and in my bedroom. Humidity is 24 today but if I take it to the living room where I have a fireplace, it increases to over 50. My humidifier runs all night and sits between the br and bath.
