Old furnace, new humidifier

Trying to wire Honeywell he360d humidifier to old Magic Chef gas fired furnace. Would prefer it to run only when blower kicks on or at minimum a call for heat. Is this possible or do I have to use the included cheesy air pressure switch?

If your furnace or thermostat can close a contact on a call for heat, that would be an alternative method. Complete model numbers of the thermostat, furnace, and pictures of the furnace control board and thermostat wire at both ends would be helpful.

Welcome to the forums.

1) Air pressure switch is one method.
2) The Aprilaire A-50 current switch which has a location in it for the blower neutral white.
3) To switch directly from the furnace you'd need to use a relay.

That humidifier requires a direct closure to operate which is why a relay is needed to interface with a furnace.

Thank you for the fast response. I think I understand what you are saying. Would a 50 relay work? The old humidifier was a drum bypass model and the humidistat/ humidifier was powered by an external transformer. The bypass model running all day wasnít too big of an issue but that obviously isnít optimal with the new unit.

That humidifier has its own built-in transformer. It requires contact closure to operate.
The A-50 will work in your application.
