Need good inland lake

Hello everyone,

My wife and I live north of Chicago. Two years ago we made a trip with another couple to Leech Lake in MN for a summer retreat. Had some great lodging at Anderson's Resort. Great food and fishing for Perch, Northern and a few walleye. 16Ft Lund (console drive) was provided. Excellent time had by all. We were looking to do this again but was hoping that we might cut the commute down by half or so. This drive to Leech Lake was about 16 hours so we camped half way. Anyone have any ideas of a great little getaway place like the one mentioned but within 500 miles or so from Chicago? Thanks for your help.

Dave

Stay safe in the woods and on the water.

Hayward, Wisconsin

We live outside Chicago too and try to go on 3 day or 7 day trips every summer. The last few years, we've been going to the Hayward Wi. area. It's a little closer than MN. and there are numerous resorts to stay and fish at. Great Musky fishing and just about any other freshwater fish can be had there. Around the end of July, they hold the World Lumberjack Championships there also, which is a lot of fun to watch.
