Crabbing at Jersey shore

When is the best time to go? I remember my father used to bring home bushels full - never did ask him while he was alive. Went myself last year -figure it cost me about $30 per crab ! ! !

The best time to go crabbing is during "slack tide." You can check tide times. Slack tide is generally about an hour before and after high tide. New Jersey crabbers say July & August are best and recommend to try within a few days before or after a full moon. The crabs are really active because they are beginning to molt their shells then.
