Trail Camera PIR Lenses - Parts Repair/Replacement
I have a Moultree MCG-13206 trail camera that is about 5 or 6 years old. About a month ago, I went out to get the card out & view pictures. I noticed a spider/cobb webb on the colored lense that detects movement to trigger the cam to take a picture. I attempted to wipe it off with my finger and the lense broke & about 75% of the lense came out.
I thought I'd try it anyway & see how it worked. About a week ago, I went back to check the pictures & the batteries were somewhat dead so I replaced the batteries. I went back today & discovered 9,999 pictures on the card. That aint gonna work.
In doing research, there are no lense replacement for this camera. I did find a couple of hunting forums that provided 3 threads on the topic. Two of them provided links to possible replacement lenses but nothing for my camera.
One guy proposed using window tint but there was no discussion on that., so I have no idea if that would work, or what number/shade of tint to use.
Additionally, I really dont see any way to get into the camera to open it up to even replace the lense.
You broke the lens in front of the infra red eye. It's got facets in it to steer the detection of the PIR but more important than that is the PIR sesnor can't be exposed to ambient air. That's whats causing the false triggering. It doesn't detect motion.... it detects changes in heat.
Pry the lens out and stick in a new one. Fresnel lens
Ok, I figured out how to get the camera apart. I could get the lens housing out but, it'd be a pain. I'd do it if I had a new part, otherwise, I wont go to that trouble unless someone here can give me a link or some reasonable tip on fixing this.
The lens housing is behind the circuit board & the wires are short. I'd have to unsolder the wires, then there's a couple of screws to remove the lens housing & remove it..... it looks like.
It may work but it is different.
Your lens is curved on the sides and the bottom. Sort of three sided.
The one in the link is curved to the sides. The top and bottom are the same. No curve to the bottom.
Does anyone know of a good cushion/bumper etc to wrap around the large metal U-loop you see at the end of a floating doc/finger that is around the piling (allowing the floating finger to rise & fall with the tide).
The diameter of the U piece is around 3" - Something akin to a post bumper used in a gymRead More
