What animal is leaving these scratch marks on my patio?

I first noticed them a few weeks ago on my plastic patio deck box, then again today I noticed a new set. Looks like it was trying to get in to the box (the only thing in there is charcoal and patio furniture cushions). I thought about getting some repellent, but I have no idea what I need to repel. Any clues?

Thanks!

They look to be rodent incisor markings. Basically sharpening their teeth, not trying to gain access. Sticky paper or a trap may show up the culprit. Of course it could be a raccoon.

I agree it looks like teeth marks, but it may also be in the squirrel family. Rodents tend to be more secretive and that looks like a rather open space.

So it could be squirrels sharpening their teeth? We do have a lot of squirrels around here.

I second the squirrel theory. I knew of an incident where a grey squirrel got into a house while family was on vacation. It couldn’t get out. During its stay it went to almost every windowsill and did this across the sill ostensibly trying to get out.
