electrical fence

Can someone tell me if mig welding wire can be used as electrical fence wire.Thanks for your help

Not sure if it has the tensile strength over a length to not sag. Expensive at that. What are you trying to contain? Cattle, dogs, sheep?

It could if you use stainless steel welding wire.
Normal mild steel wire would rust and cause problems.

Most any wire will work but some are better than others. My fence wire is all the cheap galvanized wire but it gets pretty rusty after 15 yrs. It's all still carrying the current but it is brittle and needs to be replaced. They also sell aluminum wire.

I used the 12 gauge fence wire with a pay out spinner. It pulls well and keeps tight. Never had problem with rusting.
