Can You Help Me Identify The Animal That Dug This Hole
Hello,
I live in Nassau County, NY and this morning I noticed a hole in my lawn that I think could only have been made by a wild animal. The hole is about 1/2' to 1' deep and goes under the concrete. I need to know what I should do. Should I fill it in with top soil or should I treat it with something first? Please see the attachments.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
There is no fresh dirt so I don't think it was dug recently. It could be from a void from construction that finally became visible at the surface or an old animal burrow. I'd just fill it in.
While raking leaves along my driveway I came across an egg shown in the included photo. It's a single egg that was under the leaves similar to a large or maybe extra large chicken egg except that it's more rounded at the ends. The glove is for reference. Any assistance would be appreciated. I returned the leaves and recovered the egg.
FYI, we live in a hilly, woodland area with no water within 1/5 miles so I doubt if it's a fowl egg. The egg is on a slope. We have not seen any birds close enough to be nesting.
Thanks

I have a woodpecker boring holes in my cedar trim. It looks like it's looking for a winter nest. I don't think there are any insects in there that it's after. Any advice for a DIY solution?
