I have a problem with aphids. They are eating the leaves off of my sunburst locust tree and are eating my flowers. It is not possible to spray the tree because it is too tall. Is there any way to get rid of them . Help.

Aphids
Reducing nitrogen applications will reduce the juicy, tender growth that tends to attract aphids. There are professional pesticide companies that have the equipment to spray larger trees. Smaller plants like flowers can be sprayed with insecticidal soap, hot pepper wax spray, or other organic control. There are also chemical controls. Not all chemicals are available in all areas. You can find out what is allowed in your area by calling the local Dept. of Agriculture Extension Agent.

Go to your local well stocked nursery and buy a couple containers of lady bugs and cut them loose. They like to munch on aphids. When they are done you'll have a bunch of fat lady bugs hanging around. That's ok they are not much of a nusience.
