Help! My plants are falling victim to moster grasshoppers. We just moved to a new home about 3 months ago. We first noticed the cute little fellows hopping around the yard in spring when they were about the size of small paper clip. They were black with a thin orange line down their back. Well now my yard is home to lots of large full grown hoppers! They are black with yellow/orange and their bodies are much thicker than my finger. They are eating heavily on my plants/flowers, especially my caladiums and my calla lily leaves. Any advise on how to control my new neighbors?

 

Repeated insecticide spraying is required. Grasshopper control tends to be difficult, especially once they have invaded the yard.
