Detering Outside Pests

I just put an addition on the house. We used Sonnar tubes not a foundation. There is a PVC - skirt board at the bottom that is in the ground about 1 or 2 inches - then cedar shingles. I am concerned that animals will be trying to get under there and live. Obviously it is heated so would they be looking to get under there? I can add more dirt in the spring but I would prefer not to have it go up too high.

Any recommendations, chemicals or other wise to keep them out?

Thanks.

Exclusion is the best control for insect and animal pests.
