Paper Wasps Under Deck

Every spring/summer we have a large population of paper wasps that nest under our backyard deck (western PA). The deck is low to the ground and we cannot crawl beneath it. How do you get rid of nests that you can't access? They fly up through the deck boards while you are walking on it.

Are traps at all effective? Are there poison baits that they will take back to their nests?

There are powdered insecticides such as Drione Dust that can be puffed into cracks and crevices between boards and around deck. It will float in air and coat areas beneath boards. Wasps will die or move on. Those who relocate may build nests elsewhere on your structure, so be prepared to treat other areas. The best time to treat is at dusk when wasps have returned to their nests.
