I came home to this: [URL=http://imageshack.us][IMG]http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/9889/cannibalantattack2iq.jpg[/IMG][/URL] They seem to be fighting each other, with a good 60% of the ants you see there having been torn apart and destroyed by other ants. These are what I call the "mega ant" variety, quite large with the bigger ones being about 2cm in length. Dunno where they came from, checked under the house (theres a walk space under the garage, which is the floor you see there at the top) and there was nothing. I bombed the walk space undernieth anyway. Sprayed some ant stuff down and set a trap. Shrug. These guys aren't problematic towards the structure, right? Anyone know anything more about these particular types of ants? They're very tough, but can't seem to get inside due to being too fat to fit through cracks and whatnot I would guess. Only problem I have with them is the sight of them, do I need to be aware of anything else?

This is the 2nd year I've had a problem with pavement ants. Mostly they are outside and I have just let them be but this is the 2nd year they've come into the house so now I want to control them more outside. Just wanted to make sure these were the correct steps: --Put out liquid ant baits inside until no more ants are seen --Fill in cracks allowing the ants to enter into the house (this I have already identified, it's right on my front steps, there is a gap between the wooden kick plate and the house siding, saw them going in and out) --Put down a perimiter granule/dust. It has been 24 hours since I put out the bait, last night I saw about 100 or so ants inside at the bait, right now I'm down to a handful. Still alot of activity on the bait outside on my front steps but not inside. If I know how they are getting in should I seal up that crevice now? I also have a crevice spray that I'll spray in there on the inside and outside of the house and then seal up the outside. Also today I noticed 2 areas in the lawn where there were hundreds of pavement ants swarming, you look down and just see something black about the diameter of a softball moving, the ants to me look like they are angry...does anyone know what this means...usually I just spray it, then no more moving softball
