bees/wasps eating my swingset
Hello,
I have a bee/wasp that is actually eating away at my child's swingset. I live in Ohio and it's quite hot this year. I have never seen this before, but it appears that these wasps are actually eating away at the surface of my swingset. If I feel the wood, it feels kinda fuzzy (like a peach) where they have eaten away at it.
I am wondering if there are any traps/baits that I can use that will kill them.
NOTE: These are not carpenter bees. They are not drilling holes, but instead eating away at the surface of the wood.

Hi Goodoldjosh,
Sounds like Polistes wasps - your basic paper wasp. They make their nests out of wood pulp and will choose unfinished wood to chew. You can use a wood preservative or clear sealer on the wood to prevent the wasps from chewing. Here's a site with helpful info.
