Help with mice in basement??!
So I decided to get my basement done. They rip out the old wall paneling and nestled amidst the fiber insulation were 5 juvenile mice! I had them take out but don't see the adult mice.
We didn't notice any sign of infestation in the past, nor do I see any opening in the wall. Above this wall is the garage wall and I suspect that's where they came from. I've set traps and poisoned bait in the garage but they remain untouched after 4 days. I wonder if they are actually inside?

Inspect for other possible entries. Mice will return to home base in search of babies and will likely nest again in the same wall. Exclusion by sealing all cracks and possible entries is important. A mouse can enter any space through which it can squeeze.

Thanks. Looks like I may need to clear the garage pronto and seal that hole. Since everything has been stripped to bare wall, I'm afraid the mice might just look somewhere for nesting...likey the other end of the basement where stuff have been piled due to the renovation. Should I put bait and trap in the basement as well?

It is not recommended to use baits indoors. Mice may die inside walls or other inconspicuous place and you will have to live with the odor until they completely decompose. Traps are recommended for indoors.

Thanks. I'll keep it off the basement then. I did put some on the garage with a dish of water. The package says the effect of the poison forces them to come out into daylight. But I'd rather not take that chance.
