Unhappy Trying to get rid of tiny red ants outside.

I hope someone can help me. I'm trying to get rid of tiny red ants around the house. I have no idea what kind of ants these are or where they are coming from.

I bought a spray and followed the directions "spray 4" around the foundation" but that hasn't seemed to help. I just noticed one inside the house, but considering the size (it could literally fit on the top of a pin head it's that's tiny) there could be more.

Any idea on the type of ant this is or how to get rid of them? I live in Jersey if that makes a difference.

Thanks!
Maria

Ants are ubiquitous and pretty much imposible to eliminate. The idea behind putting a 4' deep layer of pesticide around the house is that should at least keep them out of the house. Still have to kill all the ones that were already in, though.

Ant baits get carried back to the colony where it kills the ants in the colony. Insecticides kill ants who come in contact and have no effect on the colony. A regular perimeter application of residual insecticide tends to keep insect pests at bay. Seal all possible entries into the home, including where pipes and wires enter the home and around pipes under sinks.
