Bug bites (Black ants/Flies)

Do they bite? I've read up that they do and they don't. So ... which is it? Some do? Some don't? I believe they do but I'm not sure and wanted to get some real facts.

All ants are capable of biting but very very few are capable of stinging which is the part that hurts

Depending on what you are calling black ants I doubt you would even notice a black ant bite
If you are talking about black carpenter ants the only danger (very minor) would be secondary infection

Black flies bite and hurt enough that you would have no doubt that you have been bitten
