Box Elder bugs or Milkweed bugs and how do I get rid of them?!
Hello, I am so frustrated by these dang bugs but I can't quite determine what they are and how best to get rid of them since they have infested my yard. They are small, black with orange/red markings (as adults), the younger ones have less black and more orangy-red. We've always called them Box Elder bugs but to be honest, I don't have a box-elder tree and I am pretty sure my neighbor doesn't either. We live in the country and do not have any neighbors aside from that one. At the same time, however, no milkweed plants can be found to tell me for sure that these bugs are Milkweed bugs. I have taken photos so if anyone can take a look and maybe let me know which they are, I would appreciate it. Over the years these things have always congregated in roughly the same area on the side of our house. This year, they have spread across my front yard, multiplied exponentially, and spread across the back yard as well. They are on my front and back porch, on my sliding glass door, climbing all over my garbage can and patio furniture. I have had enough! I tried lemon dishsoap solution to kill them and spread it using a 3 gallon sprayer. I went through 4 of these sprayers full of soapy water in one afternoon. This resulted at the time in many many dead bugs on the ground and the side of my house but by morning, they were back and it seemed like there were even more than there had been the day before! Please please please......anyone that has any kind of suggestions that may help with this problem are greatly appreciated. If you would like to be able to see the photos I took, please email me at ****** Thank you!!!!
