Orangey Larvae

Orangey Larvae
What is this? It was sitting on my China Cabinet, on the door next to the molding in the seam. Not quite as dark as in the pic but orangey with a dark head! Yuk. Gross!
Never saw anything like it (and hope never to again)

Looks like a mealy moth larve. Check your house where the walls meet the ceiling to see if you have any more. They like to come into your house either in food containers (check the pantry) or in my case, infested in a bag of Gerbil food. The moths hatch and head for the highest spot they can, which is why you check the ceiling/wall corner. If you have a 2nd story check upstairs. Catch em before they hatch or you will be chasing them for a while.

Thank you, but I had mealy moths once and this doesn't look the same. At least I hope that's not what it is.
We've been remodeling and everything's new and clean and freshly painted. There's no food anywhere near this thing and it's the only one that I can see. I'll check some more tho.

Larvae are the hardest stage to identify. If it is a “stored product pest” then there will be more soon. If it is, and you’ve ruled out the usual sources, then look for dried fruit decorations (like Christmas stuff), woolens, taxidermy mounts/animal skins or hides; dried floral arrangements; etc.

Gosh, I don't have any of those things around. I checked every thing I could think of, and I'm not finding anything or any more of those things.
I'll just keep an eye out.
Thanks anyway.

I don't know Vic. Send me your address and I'll mail it to you so you can try it first, then let me know!
