What is this in my yard?

I can't easily release the cover and don't want to break it. I googled "MAXI RES" and got no meaningful hits. Any idea?

It's probably an access for something. Do you have an irrigation system?

The only way to know for sure what it is would be to open the lid and look inside. If you dig around the outside a bit you should find the seam for the lid and be able to do some careful prying.

Yes -- I'll use a flat edge. I assume it's related to the sprinklers as well but wanted to check before prying it open.

Hey neighbor.... do you need glasses.

That doesn't say MAXI RES...... it says MAXFORCE. The address stamped under the name would have been helpful in the search but all I can locate is in the link below. That may be a bait box for tick control/management.

MAXFORCE

The logo with the spiral O looks like what they use on this roach bait station too, so I'd say you're right about being some sort of insecticide something. https://www.amazon.com/Maxforce-Roac.../dp/B006AZ72YQ

In which case, I'd find someone I don't like to open that box for me. You know, just in case.

Since it seems pretty likely it's pest-related, maybe PAbugman might have an idea about it. If it is some sort of pest control, you might actually want to keep up on it.

I have to admit, I had this image in my head of you going to open it up, expecting sprinkler controls, and finding all manner of dead whatnot in there, like Pandora's box.

It was right near two trees so I thought terminate at first. To be honest, I am not sure how we will ever know as I am not doing chemical tests on any substance in the box.

MaxForce makes a variety of effective insect baits for pro's and homeowners' and they've done so for years. I don't think they've ever ventured into the termite field though but they did make a refillable bait station for outdoor use to target ants, outdoor roaches, etc. I think this is what it is. They were never popular; I've never seen or used one.
