Strobe Lights

I was watching Shawn Woods' Youtube channel on this strobe light.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03esqBhGFIc

Has anyone use it to rid of rodents?

I bought a cheap ($15) one from Amazon the other day and it turned out to be very bright and good for the price. I was looking at it, really got me light headed.

I am thinking about buying the one in his video (The Evictor $150) and put it in the attic to rid the rats during the winter time. My only concern, is it a fire hazard?

I can't imagine a strobe or any other lighting affect could force rats from a warm, safe winter's home. They are highly adaptable and intelligent. I don't think it will take them long to figure out that the strobe can't harm them and they accept it as yet another annoying thing humans do.

They will simply go under the insulation or get into the walls even more. I can't imagine this would work any better than the sonic repellers. The sonic devices work to an extent inside a box, but when used in a room or structure, the furniture, exposed structural members, insulation, etc block it and break it up.

I don't like the idea of an unattended light of more power than a small light bulb being unattended in the attic, especially since extension cords may be used.

If the rats aren't inside now, can you have or perform exclusionary service to your house? Otherwise, get multiple rat sized snap traps baited with bacon, chocolate, pnut butter, ets. Multiple traps and baits will enhance success.

OMG, must be from the same people who created the wind mills for mole extraction.

But as they say, it's on the internet so it must be true!

I have been thinking about hiring an exclusionary service company to seal the attic but I think that is impossible. The attic cannot be sealed completely.

I have been preventing these rats from entering my attics by killing them with poison in the yard before the activities happen in the attic. This has been working for years but unfortunately, I will be traveling for months and will not be able to poison them.

My question for you is that prior to seven years ago, there was no rodent in the attic. All the sudden by 2014, I see rodent droppings in the attic. Would you have any ideas or reasons for their appearance in my attic?

There must be a consistent, safe food/water source for them nearby so they've found safe harborage in your house. The dominant rats will live near the food source while the lesser rats will stay further away such as your attic. Unless that source can be found and eliminated, the chances of long term success are minimal.

Are there any obvious food/water sources within hundreds of yards? Examples could be large animal housing, outdoor dog houses, poorly managed trash/dumpsters, bird/wildlife feeding, etc.

In any case, while you're traveling, could you have a friend periodically service the bait stations? In many states you could buy the same rodenticide the pro's use. Otherwise, maybe you could find a local, one man pest control shop that would simply refill the ext stations at a reasonable price.
