Basement Wall Insulation

Basement Wall Insulation
I just finished putting up non-pressure treated 2x2 furring strips along the foundation walls (pressure treated floor plate used) in my basement and am about to install some insulation.
I bought a bunch of rigid 1 1/2" Polystyrene (R-7.5). I'm planning on using an adhesive like liquid nail to secure the foam to the foundation walls and then attaching 1/2" green board.
First question - Do I really need green board for the basement? It's always been a very dry basement.
Last question - Should I install a vapor barrier before the green board?

Greetings,
You can still get mold with foam. If you use a 4 mill radiant barrier(RB) material dividing the airspace you will get more insulation value and no mold.
Mold can be a problem on drywall even in a dry basement. On my jobs I install a plastic "J" channel to the bottom edge and keep the drywall about 1/4" off the floor. The plastic "J" will also keep the drywall from contacting the bottom plate.
Thank you for considering my opinion.
