Insulation b/w ceiling joists
Hi,
I'm preparing to insulate b/w ceiling joists in my basement. I have read so many threads my head is ready to explode. My plan is to use R-19 but I'm uncertain if faced or unfaced should be used in this application. Basement room will be heated and I want to avoid moisture problems. Have heard that facing should be up against subfloor. This is starting to confuse me
Thanks,
Chuck

I have a similar dilemma. I want to insulate for sound, not necessarily heat or cold. Is there something that will insulate for sound but not as much for heat/cold? The ceiling will be drywall.
Thanks,
Jim

The one I like the best for the ceiling in the basement for sound and looks is the drop down or the T bar. This way you can always get back in to it to fix things. Next I would go with whats called the ceiling tile. This will help with sound. You dont want to forget and do put insulation up there in the joist space there at the sill plate all around the home. Its a big heat loss if you dont ED
