Question Regarding foam board over plywood paneling

A couple of questions. How is the plastic applied over the foam board? What kind of foam board insulation? Also, the foam board and drywall will add about 1 3/8 inch to wall. The wall will then stick out past windows and door. The windows are vinyl replacement windows. Since the walls are thin, there are no window sills. The window is flush with wall now. How would we put trim up if drywall sticks out so much? What a weird house!

Filler strip

If you know the thickness of the wall and the thickness of the present wall to the vynal window, then you add them together and buy wood filler strips (molding) to that thickness. Make sure the filler strip is flush with the new wall and frame mold the opening. A nice touch is a 1/8th inch reveal. If you want to get fancy, put a sill with an apron underneath. You could even put rosets in the top cornors which makes it a lot easier because there isn't any 45 degree cuts. The rule with any type of carpentry is measure twice, cut once.
