insulating between the beams

I just removed all the old plaster and lathe from my third floor ceiling. The room is pretty tiny and now looks so much airier with the beams exposed. Is there any way I could just insulate between the beams and if so, what kind of insulation should I use? I was thinking about those rigid panels.
Thanks.

If there is an attic overhead, use the batt insulation rated for your locale. Staple it to the ceiling joists with the kraft face facing the room. Then cover it with sheetrock in accordance with code. If there is a conditioned space overhead, you could probably skip the insulation. It all depends.

Hope this helps.
