Skunk smell

Have a 3 seasons sun room (not heated) with a crawl space and an attached wood deck surrounding it and the front of the house (also raised). The basement was tongue and groove pine over furring strips on cement block walls. I furred out from the pine boards and put 1 1/2 styrofoam between furring strips, covered it with plastic as a vapor barrier and then 3/8 drywall. Some years later noticed a strong skunk odor both outside and inside. It comes and goes. Crawl space under sunroom and deck sealed off to prevent varmits from nesting. Do I have a mold problem perhaps? Heard that some mold smells like skunk.

This is an EPA site that discusses mold and how to prevent and clean up mold.

The smell you are experiencing may come from a variety of sources, mold is just one of them. However, wherever it comes from, moisture seems to be associated with it by your description. I suggest you look further into this situation to ascertain what is causing the odor. You will find the aforementioned website quite helpful in determining the appropriate course of action.
