Garage Insulation
#1

I had built a 30' X 56' pole garage. My question is how to insulate it. My inside is unfinished at the moment so far I have no insulation at all. I have in floor hot water heat installed also. I thought about using rolled kraft faced insulation on my roof trusses which are 24" OC and then using a silver 1/2" foam board for my ceiling which is 10' high. I do have osb board with house wrap and viynal siding and shingle roof. my side walls have 8' OC 4"X6" post with 2X4" horizontal on 24" OC. I just need to know what would be the best way to insulate? Any help would be great.
Thanks

I have a Morton bldg about the same size and construction. I used kraft faced rolls for the roof. For the walls I just cut 1 1/2" white foam board to fit between the 2x6 horizontals. Still gets darn chilly in there pretty quickly when the heater shuts off so I'm thinking I might have to break down and do the walls right this summer and finish them out by adding 2x6 between the poles and kraft insulation there too. My ceiling is open since I work with long/tall things fairly often.

Tinman. Id put a 4 mil poly V/B there on the ceiling truss then 5/8" drywall for the ceiling. Blow about 12"cellulose in there BEFORE you tape it off if its cold out. Then tape it.Be sure and vent this attic good
On the walls just go with a R13 in the 2"X4" paper side to the room.

Dont think it would help that much here. And dont think it would hold up there on the ceiling. thats why code here calls for 5/8 on the ceiling with the truss at 24" on center.
For light there have you looked at the so called SUN tubes. Go up on the roof and down to the celing work just fine with sun light
Almost like a light bulb
