Insulating an enclosed porch - open foundation
Not quite the same question as raised earlier about insulating the porch.
It's an enclosed porch with door, walls, window. I don't think the walls and ceiling are insulated but there is paneling on them. I'll remove a piece to see.
The issue is with the floor of the porch. It is built on framed studs, no concrete foundation and on the outside there is just a lattice facing. I know I can insulate the joists under the floor. I can put poly on the dirt.
The Question - how can I more permanently close in around the outside under the porch where the lattice is now so as to keep more of the cold weather out?
My objective is to move the washer and dryer out to this porch. Presently, in sub-zero weather, the cat's water bowl and the stored onions freeze.

Go just one way are the other here. You can put R-19 up in the joist paper side up to the floor. Seal off the under side of the joist with panel or something.
Or close it in all around 6 mil poly on the ground and insulation on the wall up to the joist . not in the joist.
Id do the first one and let it open under it ED

Option 1
To be sure I'm clear. Paper side up R-19 in the joists with sheets of plywood under that. No poly on the ground and the lattice remains. Would you do any more with the polystyrene sheets inside the plywood? I'm just looking for anything I can do to really keep the cold out.
Do you know what frozen onions smell like once they've thawed?

What are the joist there is R-25 that takes 8 1/2" how deep are your joist? But R19 there and just ply wood cover over the joist. let just the lattice there thats all. You do have to pull all the panel off inside and put insulation in all the walls there ED
