Spray in insulation?

We bought this house in los angeles 2 years ago. every wall I've ever cut into has no insulation whatsoever. The house was built in the early 50s IIRC. It does get cold in the winter and hot in the summer, despite the mild climate here. The attic is insulated, BTW.

I have heard a little about spray in insulaton, but I have no knowledge of it at all. Can it bo done with pre-existing walls? Can I do it myself? How big of holes do I need to cut if so?

Any info or links would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Geoff

Yes you can do it your self. Not hard at all. Go to a Home depot or Lowes they have the cellulose insulation and the blowers. They can show you what you have to do.

Hmmph. Home Depot doesn't rent the blowers. They said they do in the midwest and other areas, but not in so Cal for some reason.

I hope Lowe's does...
