styrofoam insulated windows

Recently I heard about a person spacing the two panes of glass in their windows about 4 inches apart. They then had styrofoam beading blown in the empty space to create insulation on the order of R20. They had a reservoir system where the beads were blown in when needed and pulled back out by the same system. Has anyone heard of or know of this method? Idea sounds good but I would like to see if it is being done and who has done it. Any help would be appreciated.

That goes back many many years. Just cost to much for what you got out of it. Think thermopane best way to go. Its like a vacuum there so heat and cold cant get in or out. Some of the the new windows have E glass in them and some that has a film in side that stops UV rays . So Id say look around at all the new windows that we have out now.
