One-half Garage Conversion to Bedroom

I am considering converting the back end of my two-car garage to a bedroom. My house sits on a slab and the garage floor is about 3 1/2 inches step down from the family room. I intend to run an insulated 2x6 wall across the garage floor and run ventilation duct into the new room area. What vapor barrier and sub-flooring would you recommend? Thanx.

One-half Garage Conversion to Bedroom

If you could possibly (possibly is important) use the garage area for a garage in the future there are specific requirements for the wall separating the bedroom from the garage area.

The wall has to be a fire wall with 5/8 taped sheetrock on the garage side. Any electric boxes on the garage side have to be metal. If there is a door to the garage, it must be a fire rated door (usually metal).

Vapor barrier on the conditioned (bedroom) side of the wall you are going to build.

There may be other points I have missed, but this is a start.
